This position will design and implement Business Intelligence (BI) solutions through the creation of data warehouses, data marts, and data stores while ensuring high levels of data availability. The DW Architect will work in conjunction with the DW Project Manager to be evangelists for BI/DW benefits across the organization and promote BI usage to relevant departments. Applying a strong understanding of the government health care environment, will architect solutions on the conceptual, logical, business area, and application levels. Using a high level of data warehouse analysis and design experience, with full knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and data modeling, will create models for new data warehouse development and changes to existing data stores.
Position Responsibilities
· Conduct or participate in meetings with organizational stakeholders to identify and build data warehouse architectures that meet business requirements.
· Responsible for defining data standards and models for warehouse architectures.
· Design a target data architecture that satisfies information needs.
· Develop implementation plans for building target data architecture incrementally, over time.
· Conduct or participate in design sessions with key technical team members to design ETL solutions for loading the data warehouse.
· Conduct or participate in design sessions with key technical and business owners to design reporting and analytical applications that leverage the data warehouse.
· Participate in the establishment of business performance metrics and measures to support key business objectives.
· Enforce the change control process for the data architecture artifacts.
· Manage the data quality and metadata environments.
· Lead the development and implementation of data warehouses, data marts, and data stores including the ETL used to populate those databases.
· Lead the development and implementation of normalized and dimensional data models (logical and physical) to support reporting and analytics.
· Coordinate technical staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and QA policies and procedures.
Knowledge and Experience
· 10+ years experience architecting data warehousing and business intelligence solutions.
· Proven experience supporting JAD sessions with technical and business stakeholders to determine business information requirements.
· 4+ years experience developing normalized and dimensional data models (logical and physical) to support reporting and analytics.
· Significant experience using modeling and repository tools such as Erwin.
· 4+ years experience architecting BI solutions.
· 4+ years experience implementing data integration platform using advanced methods with Microsoft technologies such as SQL Server, Reporting Services, SSIS, etc.
· Experience implementing data warehousing / business intelligence solutions in an SQL environment strongly desired.
